I never thought the life I have was possible, even though I’ve always been a dreamer. I never really stop to think about how much is going on in my life (it makes me tired when I do 😂). But last night I received a 40 Under Forty award from @businessjournaltricities, and it was a wonderful reminder to stop and look at the whole picture occasionally.

I am eternally grateful for everyone who has helped make this possible, especially @jake_808ab. ❤️

Sometimes I still wonder how I get to work with such incredible partners.

This week, I had the opportunity to join the @americancancersociety to produce a partnership feature video with @stopandshop at their newly renovated store on Bartow Ave. in the Bronx. Working with my friends from @cegroup, we captured some fantastic interviews of the dedicated employees who have raised more than $4.6 million for breast cancer research and patient support services, making a difference in the lives of countless people with cancer and their families.

And, I finally got to meet Greg Murray in real life after a year of pestering him about logos and deadlines. 😂

Before I had to head back to Tennessee, I had just enough time to squeeze in a quick lunch with @larryhgonzalez and the team at @equativ__.

What is the best part of this photo? The lack of cell service.

This year my partner and I acquired a floating cabin. It was sort of a happy accident that I wasn't very happy about at first. @jake_808ab is a the manager of a marina and more frequently than I would like, he comes home talking about some watercraft we just can't live without. The number of times I've heard statements like "It's a really good deal," and "well, it didn't TOTALLY sink, just part of the way" are too numerous to count. He picks up boats the way I pick up stray critters on the side of the road.

So, when he called to tell me that we just had to have this floating cabin, I was admittedly less than thrilled. I did not need one more thing to take care of....I still don't.

But, it's grown on me, especially since I discovered one pretty epic thing about this boathouse. My cell phone won't work there. About 50% of the time, I have absolutely no service. It's glorious.

I learned a long time ago that if you want to be good at what you do, you have to take time to step away from it. You have to take a few big steps back to get perspective.

Because everyone is so connected all the time, we all know that clocking out isn't as simple as it used to be. It's so easy to fall into working without meaning to and I fall into that trap a lot.

Lately, I've been feeling a little burnt out. Mostly because every time I open a new browser window I'm hit with some new controversy or tragedy. So instead of going to parades or parties, I spent my July 4th weekend right here, alone on this porch with a book and a view.

There is never any shame in saying "I can't see the big picture anymore" and taking a few days to step back from it all.
